What Are You Thankful For?

It is a tradition for many of our families to share what we are most thankful for as we enjoy our Thanksgiving meal.

Unfortunately, for some of us this tradition gets lost between food, football, and shopping. If this is the case for your family, I encourage you to continue reading, and then to take some time to say “thank you” for all of the blessings in your life.

Being thankful not only makes you happier but can also improve your health. (tweet this)

Researchers at both Hofstra University and the University of California at Davis have found that adults who are thankful are happier, more energetic, more optimistic, and have more social connections than those who are not.

They also found that people who are thankful are also less likely to be depressed, envious, greedy or suffer from addiction. People who are thankful tend to earn more money, get better sleep, get more regular exercise, and have greater resistance to viral infections.

That is a lot of reasons to be thankful.

Similar research found that children who are more thankful are less materialistic, more satisfied with their life, get better grades, set higher goals, and are healthier than those who don’t.

So, what are you thankful for?

Below is a list of the seven things that I am most thankful for. Many, if not all of them might apply to you. I am sure that you will think of more things to be thankful for as you read through this list. Please share you list in the comments below.

The seven things that I am most thankful for:

  1. My God – For loving me, caring for me, and giving me the gift of eternal life

  2. My Wife – For her unconditional love and acceptance

  3. My Daughter – For getting to see her grow into an awesome young lady

  4. My Family –  For being the foundation of who I am

  5. My Friends – For being there whenever I need them

  6. My Home – For providing a cool dry place for me to live

  7. My Blog – For providing a way for me add value to the world

So, what are you thankful for?

Are you happy to be around your family? Blessed to have friends you can count on? Fortunate to have a good job in today’s economy?
