Do you know what matters most to you?

Do you understand what motivates you to do what you are doing?

Do you have a clear set of your personal values?

Are your goals aligned with your values?

How you answer these questions is critical to your success. Without knowing what matters the most to you, you will never achieve what you desire most in life.  (tweet this)

Simon Sinek refers to this as your “Why,” and Phil Cooke refers to it as your “One Big Thing.” For most of us this is what dominates our thinking, planning, and actions. For some of us it represents the things that we value the most and go to great lengths to acquire, honor, or serve.

Your Why, or Your One Big Thing are unique to you. Each of us is different. That is why it is important to know, Why you are doing what you do? What is your life really about? (tweet this)

In a recent blog post, Brooke McAlary, listed seven questions that you can ask yourself to uncover your why – your life purpose(I have made some edits to her original questions):

  1. Who are the most important people in your life?
  2. What experiences are most important to you?

  3. Looking back at your life, what do you want to see? What do you want others to see?

  4. Imagine a perfect day. Describe your surroundings, your feelings, your attitude. What is in common with your current life?

  5. What about your current life doesn’t fit with your vision for your perfect life?

  6. If you had your perfect life, what positive things could you move towards?

  7. What negative things could you move away from?

It has been said that the two most important days of your life are the day you were born, and the day you discover why you were born. (tweet this) Take time today to answer these 7 questions, and let today be the day that you discover why you were born.
