What 7 Influential Bloggers Say About Life Plans

Life Plan ImageI have been writing a lot about life plans lately because I think that a life plan is one of the five keys to living a more abundant life. If you missed my series on creating a life plan, you can find it here. Today, I thought you might be interested in hearing what seven influential bloggers have to say about the importance of having a life plan.

1. Michael Hyatt, Michael Hyatt

I am a busy executive, husband, father, grandfather, blogger, and Sunday school teacher. I play a lot of roles. I’ll bet you do, too. I am often asked, “How do you get it all done?” Two words: Life Plan. Sadly, I have met very few people who have a plan for their life. Most are passive spectators, watching their lives unfold, one day at a time. They are reactive rather than proactive.”

2. Melanie Pinola, lifehacker

life plan is like a map that helps guide you towards a more meaningful life. Having one could save you from letting the days go by (as in that Talking Heads song) without purpose.”

3. Brett McKay, The Art of Manliness

Are you living the life you want or have you shoulded all over yourself for years and feel as though you’re simply going through the motions as you try to gain the approval of others? Being a mature man means knowing what you stand for and where you’re going in life. A man always has a plan, especially for something as important as his life.”

4. Donald Latumahina, Life Optimizer

“To be successful in your life, you need to have a life plan. Without a plan, many of your dreams will only be dreams. A life plan, on the other hand, will help you turn your dreams into reality. It works because it gives you not a just a destination, but also a way to get there.

A life plan doesn’t have to be complicated. It should answer just two questions:

  1. What is your destination?
  2. How will you get there?

5. John Khoury, SheKnows

There’s a quote that says “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” I would venture a new one: If you want to make God cry, tell him you haven’t really made any plans. Businesses always start with a plan, and every sports team goes into a game with a solid plan. These are entities driven by results and so must you be. You need a written life plan if you are to have a good chance of fulfillment in this day and age.”

6. Gary Polsky, PickTheBrain

Most of us who have been in the world of business know that a well-thought out business plan is the key to running a successful business. And yet, few of us take time to create a written life plan; a plan that details our vision for our life and what steps we are going to take to get there. Just like in business, if you want to live a fulfilling life that exceeds all your wildest dreams, writing a life plan is the first step to success.”

7. Jonathan Milligan, BloggingYourPassion

Just over two years ago, I did something that profoundly changed my life. It gave me purpose, focus, direction and guidance. It helped me to create balance, use my gifts, and think through the important, yet neglected areas of my life. I created a … life plan.”
